I think that our age and health overall plays into this, too. However, the OMAD is really just an extreme variant of intermittent fasting or a more hardcore cousin of the Warrior Diet.

I have done some google searching about this type of diet and over all the comments generally seem positive. Everyday its seems like there is a reason now why some that was good for you is eating one meal a day to lose weight forum and vice versa as well. I tried doing this 12 hours fasting but I lose too much weight and thats not a problem for me I am an ectomorph looking to gain weight however I did feel with more energy and mental clarity. Plus, it tends to make you more mindful when you do eat so that you don't keep eating past satiety.
